C.U.P.H. ROCCO S.A. in Brazil

The International Seminar on Water Shortage Management, organized by the Ministry of the Environment, with the support of the National Confederation of Industries (CNI), was held on April 23 and 24 in São Paulo. The event brought together experts on water resources from Brazil and other countries. They showed successful examples of water management in critical scarcity conditions.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of the Environment, Izabella Teixeira; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira; São Paulo’s Water Resources coordinator, Rui Asís; the Vice President of the National Confederation of Industries (CNI) and chairman of the Thematic Council on the Environment and Sustainability (COEMA), Marcos Guerra, and the Director of Hydrology and Land Management of the Brazilian Geological Service (CPRM), Thales Sampaio.

In the seminar on water resources there were experts from nine countries: Australia, China, Spain, USA, Japan, Israel, Singapore, Uruguay and Mexico. Brazil, as the host country, was the moderator. Organized into sections, each panel was led by a guest country which emphasized the technologies that are available to deal with the situations that were presented in the event. The presentations, which lasted 50 minutes each, were all delivered in Portuguese, English and Spanish through simultaneous translation into three languages. On the second day, the delegation held bilateral meetings with Brazilian entities.

At the opening ceremony, Uruguay was represented by: Ambassador Mr. Carlos Daniel Amorim Tenconi; the Consul General in San Pablo, Minister Counselor Ms. Flavia Pissano; Dr. Ma. Amelia Bastos, Legal Adviser, and Third Secretary to the Embassy, Mrs. Soledad Britos.

P.E. Emilio Gonzalez, Aguasur’s General Manager and member of the Uruguayan delegation, delivered a presentation on “Compact and transportable water treatment plants for emergencies”. The rest of the members were senior leaders of C.U.P.H. Rocco, Aguasur’s representative in Brazil.
